has taken a hundred and thirty years for the icon of the American Great Plains to return from near extinction. However, buffalo have returned to a much more complicated world. The tragedy of the great buffalo slaughter of the 1870's lingered in the fact that their naturally rich healthy meat was soon replaced by feed-lot beef , and the wonderful coveted buffalo leather items, were replaced with made in China wear.
Through a better understanding of human nutrition, and the abuses of 20th century agriculture, the demand for healthy bison meat and the desire to restore the Great Plains to its former glory has blossomed. However, the buffalo hides were still simply going to landfills, or to China; that is up until recently…….
With the attempt to use as much of the buffalo by-products as possible, and with encouragement from our sustainable, environmental Wild Idea Buffalo customers, we have started a line of fine buffalo leather products.
